Guess whose back!

Set between the events of Saw and Saw II, a sick and desperate John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.

Ah ok, not had chance to see the trailer yet, i liked a few of the films but some were just a cash grab.

Was OK - ending was dragged out, but as this was set early in the Saw series, i guess this is why John wasn't as good as he became? A lot was left to chance when normally everything is planned in meticulous detail.

And Cecilia, what a bitch! I don't think it's the last we'll see of her.

Watched this last week and actually really enjoyed it. Seemed to belong more with the first couple of Saw films.

Im not sure whats happening with the franchise and if they are gonna keep going. If they do I hope they stick with Kramers story.

Id quite like a prequel to Saw, more of his back story maybe some failed attempts at trap building that would be cool.

This was OK. The decent set-up was spoiled massively by the trailer. There was a lot of ‘lucking out’ in respect of how characters decided to act that was also a bit silly, together with some ridiculously unreasonable characters. And don’t get me started on the ‘dream sequence’…

… but turn off your brain and there’s very much a ‘saw film’ here. If you like the franchise, you’ll get some enjoyment from it.

As an aside, I really don’t think much of the ‘traps’ which require you to do some sort of horrendous thing, then rely on some overly complicated timing issue that is out of your control - there’s a couple of them in this film. Clearly, it’s just a ‘for audiences’ thing that’s supposed to increase on screen grossness but it makes absolutely no sense for someone to do the horrible thing you need to do to escape… then die anyway. Takes me out of the film somewhat!

The timer should be a scare tactic to get the victim started but stop as soon as soon as the end bit of the trap (collecting bone marrow for example) starts.

I did enjoy the end bit where they thought they had won and beaten the great Jigsaw only to realise they had played into his trap again.
