Pretty much looking for music with some decent sax playing in it, along the lines of Baker Street.

I am however pretty much clueless when it comes to this sort of music, so anyone got any reccomendations? :)

a lot of early Springsteen stuff - Born to Run, Jungleland, Prove it All night etc and many more. Pick up a copy of the Bruce album "Born to Run", theres some fantastic sax stuff on there.

As well as Bruce, check out Dave Matthews band, notably "Proudest Monkey", also Pink Floyd "Us and Them" is a must.

If your after some more general stuff then check out Courtney Pine and Weather Report

Tim Cappello - I Still Believe (from The Lost Boys) is one of my favourite sax songs. Plus in the film the dude looks like HHH or something which always makes me laugh.

Cheers guys, although the only stuff I hadn't listened to before was the Springsteen stuff :p

You poor man :)

Nobody comes close to The Boss.

do yourself a favour and get hold of "your latest trick - dire straits" it will melt your sax' heart ;)

Marcus Miller band, Mile's Davis band, John Patitucci's Band and Weather Report have some great sax playing in it

This is a really good bass saxophone solo (great bassist as well)

Listen to some John Coltrane, that'll make you cry :p

Alternatively listen to some big bands, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are ace, as is the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Nothing sounds better than a group of saxes playing a swing lick perfectly in time with a big band backing -- imo!!
