Been keeping an eye on Sandybridge CPUs the last few weeks as I am considering a upgrade and the prices seem to be climbing slowly especially the 2500k. Is this just down to demand at Christmas or is there something else and I should buy sooner rather than later?

OcUK are the second cheapest reputable seller in the UK right now. Being beaten only by 60 pence.

What did the prices used to be? £155 I sort of recall.

Probably just because it's Xmas. Just a guess however.

It's probably because demand > supply for this CPU at the moment.
It is basically one of the best gaming chips around for price : performance, and you can get a hefty overclock out of it very easily too.

Prices will go down when Ivybridge comes out, but will stay high until then now I believe.

Read somewhere yesterday that Intel are planning a 10-15% price drop for current Sandybridge CPUs. Not looking to hopeful though when the price in the OcUK shop is actually going up instead

no doubt someone from OCUK will come in here and say it's the £ vs $ as the reason, but this has not changed dramaticlly enough for the current price rise. currently £1 $1.56 as it has been for the last 6/7 weeks.

Bulldozer flopping intel see this and know they have no competition atm so raising the prices slightly i would not be surprised if they increase even more tbh.
