Does anyone know if an SB51G (FB51 v1.3) motherboard will fit into an SN41G case? From what I can remember about these old shuttles, the case is the same apart from the front facia's for each model.

Im hoping the SB51G board lines up with the SN41G's heatsink so it will screw in instead of using the s478 plastic retention thing.

I have the chance of salvaging some parts but need to double check before sending money.

The G series are all the same size and iirc the socket A shuttles used 478 mounting points, so in theory, yes it should work. I'd wait for someone to confirm though :)

I was going to suggest you might need to also change the front too, as the SN41G2 had a different port alignment to newer G2 units. But it looks the same going by the pictures on Shuttle's global site.

Only difference may be the ribbon cable connection to the front panel ports.

I have just hit that brick wall... I have a tatty SN41G here but the front is in really bad shape. I was going to swap over the front and the ports but it might be too much work to get looking good. Undecided as yet, dont know how far to go with it.

The easy option is to get the board into the sn45g and just leave the front ports un-hooked and try joining them up. But that will create a big soldering job arghhh :(
