sbs 2003 domain/dns question

removing old sbs server (not migrating as sbs is a bitch)
can i name the new server's domain role the same name as the old one without issue??

obviouslly computers are joined to the domain on the old server, but if i name the new domain the same im asuming they wont connect, but not sure, hence the question?

hope that makes sense?

No, that won't work. The names may be the same but the GUIDs won't be.

yeah thought so. but could u see any problems if i still did that, and just rejoined the pcs?

I wouldn't suggest it. If you're redomaining the clients, why not rename the domain?

cuz the one they have is the best name, their full name is too long and there is no short word for "partners"

i know, i dont like the idea of naming the same, but it would just be handy.. so maybe i shouldnt, just neeed to think of another
