Hi,

ive just set up SBS 2003 as a virtual machine running in VMware, set up so that the network thinks its a real pc (has a static IP address etc).

whenever i try and connect a client PC it comes up with an error 'The list of users and computers cannot be found. before you continue ensure that the client computer has a wired connection.' then it says some more stuff about router performing DHCP services.

i have disable the dhcp services in the router and have enabled them on SBS. i have configured the client pc to obtain ip address automatically and also set the dns servers as primary: sbs ip address, seconday: router ip address.

i have also set up sbs so that its has the same configuration as the above.

all computers have no problem accessing the internet and they can both see eachother

i have tried looking up solutions to this but it is way to complicated for me.

so could someone please explain in nice simple steps, sorry i have next to no understanding of servers and am trying to learn fast :)

cheers

ali

So the clients arent getting an IP? Can they ping the SBS server.

Id say you probably need to double check your VMware network adapter settings.

hi thanks but ive managed to fix it now. I just joined each pc to the domain from within the computer properties (i.e where you choose computer name etc) thanks anyway tho :)
