sbs 2003 licence work with sbs 2003 r2?

I don't believe so, they are different CD keys and I don't think there's a direct upgrade :(

You may be able to blag an R2 key but I think you'll be lucky

IIRC, there was a window of about a year prior to the R2 release where, if you bought 2003, you were entitled to a free upgrade to R2 but, aside from that, it's a new product and you'll need to buy it.

I think your only recourse would be if you purchased 2003 shortly before the release of R2 and your retailer didn't advise you of the free R2 upgrade offer (you had to register with MS for it).

Not sure what you're asking here.
If you mean to say, you already have SBS2003 at the root of the forest and you now want to add another 2003 box to the domain then yes, assuming you have the correct serial, your users are licensed to use the new server under SBS licensing.

Otherwise, SBS licenses will not work on standard windows. The SBS license includes an Exchange CAL for a start... perhaps you could ask for a refund but good luck with that if you've opened the shrink wrap.

I think he was just asking if his existing Windows SBS 2003 R1 license would allow him to use SBS 2003 R2, nothing more complicated :)
