Hi

We are due to migrate to a SBS 2011 server in the near future and I need to purchase AV for it.

Which product would you suggest which will protect just the server and exchange mailboxes?

I'd like to know the same, we've been on sbs2003 with symantec on server and workstations and its been awful:)
Hasn't stopped anything, logs report nothing blocked and several machines have needed cleaned and one even reinstalled

So good alternatives pls, 1 server 16 workstations.

We have two clients on SBS2008 and one on SBS2011 who use ESET Mail Security for Exchange - it works flawlessly and doesn't hog the system resources too badly. The anti-spam protection is also a nice addition to the Exchange 2010 built in anti-spam module, it catches nearly every bit of spam. I'd say it's at least as good as the hosted anti-spam solution we use in house.

I know ESET don't have Mail Security listed as supported for SBS2011 on their website but I've had it confirmed by ESET Support that it is indeed supported and they just need to update their website :)

Edit: The above info was meant for Ish, however Hikari I'd suggest you use the same on your SBS 2003 server and for the workstations use ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition. This can all be monitored/administered from a central console called Remote Administrator, it's quite advanced and can take a while to get your head around certain things but they have good documentation.

Certainly be something we look at, we are about to change over to a new server with sbs2011, so once that migration is done when the current licence expires we shall probably jump ship and move from symantec

Avast have also said that they are releasing a new version in the next 4 weeks which will work with SBS2011.

Is there an anti-virus package that is more reasonably priced as many of these seem to cost more than the OS its self???

If cost is a major issue, then look into Vipre. We have used it on SBS before without any problems. There is also an Exchange option to filter out the nasties. You should be able to get both for £5 per year per user.

Cost is (or at least should be) a major consideration in all businesses. We dont have exchange so dont need to worry about filtering on that, its simply the server its self that we need AV cover for :)
