Hi

I am setting up a SBS 2011 for my self in my office i have everything but when i go to the wizard to set up Remote web access it asks me to set up SSL - Do i need for it to be SSL?

If so can i order an SSL from somewhere like cheapssl for $8 and use that?

Hope poeple understand what i mean
Thanks

From memory, if you try to access rwa on port 80 it will auto redirect to 443, so yes, you ought to set up Ssl as this is the way it was designed to function. SBS and Essentials come with self signed ssl certs, you can use these if you wish...you just need to install it on the client machines you need it on - this will stop the warning prompts. Just set it up in the SBS /essentials wizard and away you go.

You can also buy a trusted ssl cert to avoid having to install it on your client machines... I think there is a built in wizard that will run through the purchase and install via Go daddy...

This is for setting up remote web access now right? if so i will get one. Its more of a test i want to see how sbs 2011 e works so i will go over the wizard now and get it signed up with go daddy.

Thanks
Dave

£3.99  How come so cheap, I get the £40-50 ones normally from GoDaddy for SBS! Will the cheap ones run ok with SBS?

Yup, I've used them on a number of SBS 2008/2011. It's about the first thing we do if sorting out any ActiveSync type errors and the server doesn't already have one.

Renewals for year 2+ are more, though I guess you could revoke the certificate and start again.
