Scaffold tower domestic

Bit of a bombastic statement.
I understand that it is not as safe but its hardly reckless is it.
just need to be more aware that the "safety bar" is at knee height instead of waist height.

still better than hanging off a ladder at that height.

It would indeed be reckless. The safety bar would be basically useless and a slip in some directions would almost certainly lead to falling off.

Working at height on a ladder is not inherently dangerous. Inappropriate working is, such as doing so when tired.

When working at height with no direct safety fall prevention (such as a harness) the age old 3 points of contact reigns supreme. Which you can easily do on a ladder but would be nigh on impossible on this tower with knee high fall prevention.
Unless he is on his knees on the tower which would somewhat defeat the purpose of moving the platform height above the safe point. ;)

Dumb suggestion remains, dumb.

Be aware sure, one lapse of concentration, one slip or something unexpected and you're dead or at the least nursing many broken bones. The safety bars exist for a reason.

Thanks. It is much more money and still only gives a platform height of 3.4m which means when Im working near the top of the wall Im going to be at head height.

I don't think I can justify spending that much more for a lower tower even though I recognise its probably more robust.
Just to reiterate - the BPS scaffolding you mentioned in your OP is perfectly fine. I used it for occasional commercial use over the past few years and it's a strong and robust system. I ended up passing it on only because it took some time to assemble, something that shouldn't be an issue for domestic use. BPS are a good company - I've bought two further sets of mobile scaffolding from them and have been very happy both with the service and the scaffolding itself.

I'll only say this - don't screw about with safety and put the safety bars at the correct height. It doesn't look high looking up from the ground but the ground looks a hundred miles away when you're on top of the scaffolding. You won't bounce, you'll splat...

its only about the weight of 2 tall people.

even 1 tall person can be over 100kg+ in a chubby state

5l of paint is like 7kg

unless your small and thin you could hit 150kg really fast, also the nearer you are to that limit the more unstable it might be.

if you jump 2ft you likely land with more than 150kg of force, it's really not a high weight load at all.

I'd expect that if its rated for 150kg it should be really able to hold at least 25% more.

Thanks for tagging me. Unsure on the width of the frame (doesn't seem to specify online either). Anyway that's over the price of a new tower for a used one so I'd probably just buy the new one for £650 ish.

Its the dogs B of towers though
I used to be in the toolhire game and its basically the best stuff you can get, completely different level to a £650 new one

You choice of course but if it was me I would buy that level of stuff working at height.

Its Boss narrow and its in the description 1.8m x 0.9m x 5.2m

I've seen that tower installed to about 30m high and its rated for it which surprised me.
(internal fit out of a shopping centre)

The one he linked is significantly better than the new one you're looking at tbf.

Hmm ok let me go and measure my passageway. The one I was looking at initially was 0.68m wide total with a platform of 0.5m.

If that one is 0.9m the platform doesn't look full width.

Buy used. Sell it. Something I've done before.

Yeah but you said hire.

I was trying to get him to buy some used proper tower but seems his alley is unfortunately pretty narrow.

I personally wouldn't be buying a second hand scissor lift unless I was very certain of its reason for being sold.

@danlightbulb sending you a pm
