Scaling Issue switching 2k Monitor to 4k TV

I've setup a switch with input from my PC and output to my 2k monitor and my 4k TV, so I can press a switch and my PC screen appears on my TV via HDMI. My problem is, the PC doesn't detect the 4K TV and shows just a 2K sized desktop, so I have a pretty big black border around the desktop.

If I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in again, it's full sized, but as soon as I switch away and come back, it's small again.

I have an Nvidia RTX 2070 if that matters. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks :)

**EDIT** Typical. I spend 20 minutes trying to fix this, then post... then 2 minutes later find my solution. On my Sony TV I found a setting 'Wide Mode' and I set that to 'Full' and it's zoomed it in automatically :)

Sounds silly but why are you using a switch. Why not just plug both in to the 2070 and then use Windows to switch between them?

I think the problem here is that Windows doesn't realise you are changing the screen, so it just keeps outputting at 2K. The 2070 will output at 4K though, as long as it recognises that it has a 4K TV attached. Like I said, if you use two cables, one to each monitor. then just Windows to do the switch it will all work.

Sounds like you are upscaling the 2k picture to full rather than running at 4k.

No issue so long as that is what you want to do.

Yeah, this is fine. It's only for Zwift, which would look fine in 720p...

I guess I could. A quick google says I can have up to four screens. I don't know I'd want it as a third, I guess it could just mirror one of the main two screens? I certainly wouldn't want it extended to a third and sometimes my pointer would vanish off onto the TV that is off 99% of the time.

I see. I am not sure you can do that without a separate application. Adding it as a third is one thing, mirroring it is completely different. Incidentally you can also wireless send to most 4K TV's without any additional hardware but unfortunately only in 1080p. Again, doesn't really do what you want... The good news about that though is the TV realises what's going on and automatically displays it fullscreen.

I just got round to watching that video... unfortunately it's no help. He's showing streaming video services from a webpage... (not being funny, that's VERY basic, I've been doing that from my phone for years. Who hasn't?) I need to stream my desktop.

**EDIT** But, it did lead to me searching 'cast windows 10 desktop' and I found you can do that through Chrome, so thanks :)

You missed the point of the video. The PC is a bluetooth device so it can connect to the TV and the TV then becomes an additional desktop. You can then send whatever you want from the PC to the TV. It's exactly the same as a wired connection - except it's wireless.

Erm... sure. The fact it can't stream what I need to is not relevant?

No, it displays the web page you have, it's not another monitor.

Not sure what you are doing there, but that's not the same as what I am doing! I have a TV and I am using bluetooth to create a new desktop on my TV. True, it is only 1920x1080, but I can use it for anything. Maybe I posted the wrong video.
If I hit <windows key> K, I get a connect menu. Then I select my TV, and BOOM, the TV becomes a third monitor... which is just an extension to my desktop.
