Scaling/resolution issue when turning monitor off/on?

I've had an ongoing issue which I can't seem to fix but is driving me crazy.
I use my machine for productivity only (no gaming) and I have a big 57" Samsung monitor and usually have lots of open programs.

When I'm working, all the open programs are nicely laid out across my screen how I want them but If i turn my monitor off, then turn it back on again, all my layout has been completely wrecked with some programs hanging off the bottom of the screen, other programs have re-sized weirdly and moved around the screen and Davinci Resolve has completely changed its resolution so everything looks tiny and I have to restart Resolve to get it working properly again.

This happened on my previous PC and again is happening on my new build with completely different hardware but have noticed Its only since using Win 11 24H2.
I've also tried an HDMI cable over DP but made no difference.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

apart from using 3rd party software I do not think you are going to resolve it as its a Windows issue and Microsoft needs to sort it as they broke it like most things with the 24H2 update.

Can you roll back to 23H2 and test?

It’s a brand new built machine that I installed 24H2 on but I’ve found a 23H2 download now.
Will Microsoft force 24H2 on me tho?

Ahh yes, the new ISO from Microsoft is 24H2.

Could try 23H2 and see how that goes if you have a spare drive to test it with save wiping out your current install and it not work.

I've followed this to stay onb 23H2 but unsure if it 100% works or not

Cheers, going to give a try now from fresh as only did the full install a couple of days ago.

It's something to do with
Windows automatically detecting resolution
When you turn the monitor on
When the monitor is off Windows assigns a really
Low resolution to it instead of remembering
What resolution it last had
Suppose it makes sense in a way in case there's
Any issues when it's turned back on
Better an assigned low resolution than no display
You can alter the behaviour in regedit
Though wouldn't mess with it unless you have an image backup
Just in case

I did. There are some articles about how to fix it if 24H2 breaks it.

After the regedit tweak, even though it fixed the issue the open windows still flickered (as if they were being quickly resized).

I don't know why, but the flickering doesn't happen anymore, maybe I just needed to restart the PC a few times.
