Scaling windows help

Does anyone know if you can click through and interact with individual windows whilst scaled (compiz or alternative) ? I use scale a lot but would like to click through.

Looking for alternatives or ideas :cool:

Sort of.... When scaled all the windows are live so you can see all the windows in realtime. ie video is playing, htop or dstat running in the terminals can be clearly seen updating.

Problem is that say I want to update a new url or tab in the browser, then as you suggest I would have to click on the browser and bring it into focus (ie switch to the app) before typing in the new url.

Ideally I would like the app to remain scaled when doing that... so your suggestion of tiling is what I really want. Now this begs me to ask if I can continue with compiz or do I need a tiling desktop manager and if so which one ?

Thanks.... just tried it ... all it does is to resize the window into a grid instead of scaling into a grid

A resize means exactly that .... If you have an app that has been maximized like for example the browser window in the screen grab above and you simply resize it, all you're doing is making the windows frame smaller instead of zooming out ie you get scroll bars galore
