I know lots of you will look from time to time on ebay for great deals on lenses etc. well i have noticed a theme running though some rather dodgy sellers who have top spec Canon L, Nikon ED and Sigma EX lenses for sale.

(Its the age old if it looks too goo to be true, it is and these guys are well dodgy!)

Some auction numbers to bewary of:

180011342501
110013586287
180011346382
110013586554
110013586210
110013586371
110013586545

Having been scouring ebay for lens prices over the last couple of days I have noticed the astonishing number of scams going on.

DO NOT BID IF:

The buyer ID is hidden (private auction)
The price is too low to be true for the auction itself and there is an "email me for buy it now price" link in the auction with an email address different to that of the seller.

Last night I came across an auction for a "like new / unused" 20D with an L "kit lens"... The photo in the auction showed a 20D on a specialist setup with angled viewfinder with a Nikkor lens attached!! Damn scammers will try anything!!

This is why Im always really nervous of getting photographic gear from the Bay (and why I never have).

I mean, people always expect to see dodgy sunglasses knock offs and the like, but in comparison is taking some white tube, filling it with crap glass and sticking a big red L on it any harder to acheive?
For something costing a fair wedge of cash and ideally lasting me a good few years I'm far too nervous to get it from anywhere other than a reputatable and present retailer (no that doesnt mean /them/), even if it means paying more.

Looks like they have been removed now

Good - looks like they actioned on me reporting them.

I've bought and sold lots of camera kit on ebay without problems, scams are easy to spot from a mile off for anyone with a smidge of inteligance!
