I sell stuff on gumtree all the time. Ever now and then I get an email from someone in Africa wanting the product. For example... Let's say I am selling a television for $600. The scammer writes me and says that he wants the television, but shipping to his country is very expensive.. So he offers to send a certified check for $1600. $600 for the television, and $1000 for you to western union to his shipper. Well, you cash the check. Send the $1000 to the shipper, then you find out the check was bad and you are out $1000 because there is no shipper... just a scammer.
Here is what I like to do. I agree with everything they say. 99 times out of 100 they will offer to send the fake check via fedex over night.... to another country. That has to be expensive. Once I get the delivery, I tell them that they are low life scum bags.. Then I ask if the overnight fee was expensive. Then the $1,000,000 question. How does it feel being beat at your own game. I just scammed you! Scammer! LOL
