scanned document, what to type on it

Hi dudes, I have scanned a document, and if i open it in word, it opens as a picutre, problem is i wish to use the scanned document as a word document,
in other words like a template which you can type text into it, I have done this before but cannot recall how. Do i need to use ocr software.
The form is a returns form, which we fill in and fax, we would rather open it up in word or something like, and fill in the info and email it off.

Any ideas????

You need OCR software to 'read' the created image and then extract what it thinks is text.

There are also packages that scan forms and then show you those forms so you can fill in the boxes. No links to any though, sorry.
