Scanning problem with 3 of 9 bar code font

I'm having some problems that I hope someone can help me with.

I am trying to scan a series of reference numbers that are all in the following format:

1-000000000-7

When I convert these to 3 of 9 bar code and add the start and end characters it won't scan - if I drop the initial '-' off it works perfectly.

So far I've changed the scaling to 150% and 26pt which scans perfectly without the - but refuses to scan with it.

I've also tried adding '!' as the start and end character instead of '*'

Please can anyone help!

Using a free barcode creator online and my phone, the following scans fine:

Can you scan that? If not, what scanner are you using?

Thanks for the reply, It's a Zebex hand held scanner which works with most bar codes I create using the 3 of 9 font

If you pop me a reasonably good resolution image of the code to my trust email I'll have a look at it for you when I get to work. I'll Pop it under a webscan or qc890 or even just have a look to see if the individual glyphs are correct.
