Scart Leads

Just trying to get an general idea as to whether expensive scart leads are really worth the price tag? atm I am using the one supplied with my PVR but looking at various cable shops most scat leads are £30 or so the big question is the average Joe going to notice the difference?

To a point, something around £10-£20 such as a Profigold, low end QED or Ixos etc are all good.

i got some gold plated ones from the famous auctions place for £20 less than most high street shops - i didnt notice any difference. must be my eyes

Scart cables can have quite a noticable effect on picture quality, I bought a QED Silver Refrence scart lead 2nd hand, new they are £60, i paid £16 for it, it made a huge difference compared to the £10 gold plated one I was using before it. reduced picture noise and improved detail.

If you want new then the P21 from QED is also very good, and only around £20.

Of course all this all depends on what you have it hooked up to, but if its a decent setup you should see worthwhile gains.

Well I have got Sky HD on order but have and will still use my Thomson DVB TopUP TV PVR connected to a Samsung 50' HD Plasma, I understand the signal carried is analogue so there should be some improvement in picture quality, just need to find the right scart brand

What's considered the best brand/model to ££ ratio

The is the same one I bought for sale on the bay now, just search for QED Scart, its called the QED Silver Reference Sqart AV21 (Fully Wired).

22h left and its at £1.04

failing that just pick up the QED P21 for £20 new

How are Philex Thor scarts compared to the one you mentioned? These seems to be branded about a lot. I can pick up one new for around £20 or so.
