I was just pondering over how much my interest in stereo and AV has cost me over the years, so put a list together. Bearing in mind I've been using seperates for 21 years, here's the list of kit I've owned:
Arcam 7se
Argos Granite slabs
Bel Canto Evo2i
Cambridge Audio Opt Dig IC
Chord Cobra IC
Coherent Cables
Comet Projector Stand
DS *** DAC v1
DS ***2 DAC
Eupen power cord
Furukawa Dig IC
Ikea Opoli stand
Impulse Lali Horn speakers
Jamo Centre 200
JPW speakers
Kef Cresta 3s
Kenwood 3030R
Linn Centrik
Linn Kabers
Linn LP12
Mana Stand
Marantz CD52se
Marantz SR4300
Marantz SR880
Meridian 203 DAC
Meridian 500 Transport
MF Digilog DAC
MF MC4s
Mission Cyrus 2/PSX
Mission Cyrus DAC
MS 902s
MS25i speakers
MS decoder 1
NAC NAC82
Naim NAC112
Naim CD5i
Naim Hicap
Naim NACA5
Naim Nap 200
Nait Nait 5
Pannasonic AE500
Partington Master SE stands
Philips CD373
Pioneer 535
Pioneer 575A
Quantam IA100
QED Squart
RDC support cones
Rega Ear
REL Q100 Sub
Sennheiser HD540s
Sennheiser HD600s
Sonus AV stand
Sony 21" TV
Sony 29" TV
Sony 32" TV
Sony VTX800 FreeView
Tannoy Mercurys
Target TT1
Target TT5
Teac VRDS7
UPS for projector
Walker CJ58
Zanash IC for Rega Ear
Zanash PSU
Zanash Digital IC
The cost to buy works out at around £17k, though a lot was sold post use for an estimated £7k. So actual costs to me are around £10k, and clearly I still have the projector and stereo, so things are not too bad.
So assuming £10k actual cost, means that I've been able to have a pretty good stereo for close on £500 a year for 20 years, definitely cheaper than running a car.
Anyone else ever calculated the above?
