Has anyone else seen this? It was on HBO Max last year and was more recently released on Netflix.

It tells the story of a group of survivors stranded on an alien planet after having to abandon their ship in orbit.

I have to say, I have just finished it, and it has absolutely blown me away.

If you're a fan of sci-fi, this is an absolute must, especially if you enjoy books like Hyperion. It offers a similar Hyperion-esque vibe with a richly designed world and an eerie yet fascinating atmosphere.

It's got an absolutely hauntingly brilliant soundtrack as well.

It's not an action-packed pew-pew explosion fest; it's more of a sci-fi fantasy focusing on atmosphere, world-building, and an element of horror. In that respect, it's quite niche, but it ticked all the boxes for me!

Here is the trailer, which I didn't watch as I went in totally blind. I'd advise you do the same if you are at all interested, but just in case you need a sweetener:

I wouldn't be too disappointed if there wasn't another season. For me, it was good enough in isolation, and I wouldn't want another series to dilute that - I'd happily be proven wrong though!

Update on potential s2, doesn't look like it's happening.

"As of right now, Scavengers Reign is not being renewed for a second season. I wanted to let everyone know directly because I really love our fanbase, they've been such champions for the show, and I don't want to leave everyone hanging.

We've had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way to get this show made, starting all the way back in 2016 with the Scavengers short film to the release of the first season last year.

It's a case study for believing in something and persevering through a million and one hurdles. But, it got made, thanks especially to so many people who supported it along the way, in big and small ways. I want to thank some of those people, starting with my co-creator Charles Huettner, Chris Prynoski and everyone at Titmouse, my home base at Green Street Pictures , the writers, directors, and so many incredible artists who worked tirelessly on the show, and the folks at Max who were incredible partners to work with.

But this is not the end. There is more story to be told, we are ready to make another season, and we produced in-house at Green Street a teaser for what was going to come in the second season.

Thanks again to everyone who watched and supported the show.

Just finished it. Was good but I was a little disappointed with the Telekinesis story. That was a major part of the whole thing and I felt it need some more resolution than it got.
