I've been asked to do the following;

Build a Win7 X64 base WIM with Office 2010 installed

Build a TS to layer on the drivers etc for numerous laptops, setup bitlocker

I'm fine with the TS side of things but my knowledge of the actual base WIM is a little sketchy,

At the moment I have done an install in VMWare of Windows 7 SP1 x64, I have installed office with a custom MSP

That's the max I want to put in the WIM for servicing reasons.

I installed office in Audit Mode, my question being whats the best method to capture this. I also want to be able to re-open the WIM and service at a later point online.

Do I just sysprep / rearm the capture for rollout and capture the DEV build without?

I was going to create an SCCM capture media to do that, which I believe needs the client installed and the machine to be in a workgroup.

Any advice appreciated

Will be doing that yes, as the idea is we have a pretty tight SLA to re-build machines so anything that saves time is a benefit hence office going in the WIM.

From a service point of view I'm pondering copying a local installation source to the base wim and then deploy it in the TS, thinking it might be quicker but still servicable later.
