Location
Close to Swindon, but not Swindon
I'm getting a new lens for my 7D and I'd like to bed it in by taking a field trip to some part of the UK, (accessible by train) which has stunning landscapes, plenty of macro opportunity and possibly more.

I've been thinking about Scotland, but not sure where to go.

Can anyone recommend other locations?

Although I've never been myself, the Lake District is supposed to be one of the most stunning areas of the country.

Anywhere between Fort William and Mallaig

This

I'd also say anywhere around Wester ross near ullapool, isle of Skye (Trotternish)

Also parts of northwest England are awesome - around Banborough castle, Alnwick etc, some good castles and beaches.

A decent day out for you and relatively nearby as well, is Durdle Door in Dorset. Absolutely beautiful bit of coast. And Dorset is pretty beautiful in general.

The Lake District is stunning too, as a previous poster stated. I've been a few times. If you're up for a real challenge, and a very scary drive with views to die for then hit Hardknott Pass.

I kissed the ground after getting off it although I had made the mistake of doing it on arrival to the Lakes with a fully laden car with two bikes hanging off the back.

Stratford upon Avon, The place is like walking in a picture postcard.

lol!

I do love Durdles Door, it is stunning. Hell of a walk down though.

Love the look of Hardknott Pass! Should be a breeze for my Diesel.

Ogwen Valley, Beddgelert or Porthmadog. Anywhere in those areas is stunning, especially if you take the non-touristy routes.
