Best attacking midielder (at peak) ? Stevie G not added as it would be too one sided

You simply don't start that many games in a row in the best side in the country, if not the world, without being an exceptionally good player.

Indeed this is true... but look at the players that play around him, Essien ... one of the best midfielders in the world if you ask me, the class is from him, Lampard reaps the Glory (or the defenders left shin-pad)

I don't even rate Essien that much. He's not a patch on Lamps. He's stronger and possibly quicker, he's certainly dirtier, but thats about it.

He's taken poor penalties recently, granted, but he can certainly tackle better than Scholes and he's a great goal-getter too. He's had a bad run of form and doesn't look himself but it'll come back.

He's a great passer of the ball and his positional sense hasn't left him either.

i'll give you tackling even in his hay day scholes never quite got the hang of that one :p

dont get me wrong i think lamps is a better player now, but in their prime scholes was. at the minute i think scholes is heading back to his old best and frank is heading the other way. Scholes could still do a job for England i think. Frank needs benching at the minute. (some slight contradictions in there but i think you get what i mean :p )

Jose Morinho cant exactly drop him now either after his little temper tantrum.

lol, behave. The guy isn't fit to lace Lamps's boots any more. The argument is whether Lamps was better than Scholes was when both playing at the top of their game.

Well thats a matter of opinion, watching Scholes this season shows how much we missed his class in Midfield. It's no suprise people are wanting the guy to come out of retirement fro England (Terry V).

Personally I feel Scholes shot and his passing are greater than Lampards and his first touch is more "Nautural". His vision (even with his dodgy eye) is awsome no doubting that, he keeps the midfield ticking!

if either of them are gods then what does that make Stevie G?? :p
In an attacking sense, at the top of all three of their respective games, about the same :)

seriously?

i think Gerrard is heads and shoulders above them both in an attacking sense. his passing and shooting are miles better and the runs he makes and positions he gets into are unbelievable.

I suppose Lampard is the better all rounder, he has more to his game. But the question here is who is the better AM and I would say that's Scholes. The Problem I feel for Lampard however though is that okay, he is a very good player, but he's overatted and there are better attackers than him, better DM's then him and better all rounders than him. I think that Chelsea are getting the best out of him precisely because they play him as one midfielder out of three where he is not expected to have primary defensive duties or primary attacking duties.

This man has sence *pats head*

Yup, seriously. I don't believe his goal return was ever up there with Lamps or Scholes. He's a better passer of the ball but he insist on playing daft hollywood passes, I think he played alongside Beckham for too long :(

He's a great player, don't get me wrong, but coming from deep and playing in a free role, not as an AMC.

how dirty a player means nothing in modern football.... as the whole Dutch team portrayed...

Gerrard, Steven (Liverpool, 2000-present) 10 in 50 games
Lampard, Frank jnr. (Chelsea, 1999-present) 12 in 48 games
Scholes, Paul (Manchester United, 1997-present) 14 in 66 games

not a lot of difference in goals in internationals

i just think Gerrard has more influence and would be a bigger miss if he was out.

But look at Lampard goals compared to Scholes/Gerrards they are all flukey deflections, he can never hit the ball as cleanly and with such technique like Scholes and Gerrard IMO

oh shush!
at least the ''daft hollywood passes'' work for him... you try passing a ball 1 side of the pitch to the other, pinpoint it onto a players foot... its damn difficult (its every wingers dream to have a ball like that/being able to do it) you dont see lampard doing that! Beckham is quality, havnt a clue why hes been dropped from the england side... england will never be top competitors for WC again imo, unless we get very lucky!

Italy for the winnar!!!!!

Scholes was off form for the last 4 years of internationals he took part in, Lamps has been off the boil for a while now too, certainly since before the WC.

Absolutely, but he doesn't play AMC :)

Enough eh, you've obviously made your mind up about him, we don't need to hear the same opinion again and again, however funny and unfounded :)
