Hi my 11 year old son started high school a couple of mounths ago. I had to buy him a brand new uniform. How much did you have to spend on school uniform this year?
My sons school uniform cost
School jumper £11x3
School polo shirt £9x3
School trousers £7x3
School shoes £4
School hoodie £15
Pe top £10x2
Pe shorts £7x2
Pe socks £7x2

Even if you could, there's no real reason to, school uniforms prices are surely relatively similar across the board? Especially for ones with the schools logo on it?

OP doesn't sound far off with his pricing, fair play with the 2 for £8 shoes if pumps are what the kids are cutting about in these days.

I'm not a parent but every little helps!

Pumps are a popular alternative to school shoes

Not if your school insists on embroidered badged uniform that can only be bought from a handful of shops in the local area. Trousers/skirts etc are fine, but jumpers, blazers and cardigans are hard to source.

My sons school jumpers have the school logo on and there only £11 and the polo shirts there £9

My mum is a head teacher at an infant school in one of the pooer parts of Essex. For whatever reason, a footballer playing for Spurs decided to send his daughter to my mum's school.

She'd turn up in £400 Prada shoes when most of the kids were wearing £3 plimsolls. :o

My sons friend has very expensive school shoes but he dosent brag or say anything about it

Totally depends on the school. Sometimes you don't have a choice what the costs are.

Eton tail coats are £500 each and you need two. My daughter needs a £100 tweed blazer and my son wears tesco trousers and the schools polo shirts and jumpers.

I will buy them decent school shoes from Clarks which last all year. My son burns through trainers at the moment so he gets £5 shoe zone specials

2 shops sell my sons school uniform but there both the same price

Plus the jumpers and polo shirts must have the school logo on so I can't buy supermarket ones like i did when my son was at primary school

£400 pound school shoes that's ridiculous

Depends how much you earn...

Someone racking in 20k a week isn't going to think twice about spending 400 quid on some shoes. Someone who makes 20k a year would consider a 400 quid pair of shoes as a luxury buy.

Still very expensive most I would spend on shoes is £40 the most expensive shoes my son has are his football boots they cost £36

Shoes from clarks think the last pair coat £45.00. They are holding up really well considering my 4 year old boy is actively trying to destroy them. Also got his plimsolls he uses for PE from clarks something like £10-12.

Very cheap shoes are very cheap for a reason. My wife used to buy cheap pumps at like 4 quid a pair claiming they where good value as they were cheap. Baring in mind some of them only lasted half a dozen wears before needing to be binned, she soon stopped buying them.

Shirts from marks and spencer which seem really good quality and come with neat little touches like Velcro instead of a top button making them easier for little ones to get dressed. Only £5-6 for a pack of two.

Trousers again I think come from marks and spencer and again not expensive.

We do have to get the school jumper, tie and PE kit directly from the school, but again the school aren't overly expensive. £13.00 a jumper, £2.50 a tie and £5-6 for the PE tshirt and shorts.

I remember the days of my mum complaining that my school blazer could only be purchased from one shop in the area and you had to go and get fitted and you had to wait 6-8 weeks and it cost £70.00 a go.
The shoe zone ones my son weares last at least 10 weeks so there good value for money
