I have two monitors. With games like ME2 and TF2 I play in "Windowed (fullscreen)" on my main monitor and have Firefox, MSN etc on my secondary. The mouse is locked to the main monitor during gameplay, and then when I hit esc and bring up a cursor-based menu, the mouse can travel over to the secondary so I can have conversations and browse at the same time as playing a game. This is really useful.

However, doesn't work with Starcraft II. Both fullscreen and windowed (fullscreen) lock the cursor to the main monitor even in cursor-based menus. The only way is to use windowed mode, but then the cursor travels over even during gameplay and I can't pan; also I lose loads of fps, so it's not an option.

Why doesn't windowed (fullscreen) allow my cursor to travel over to the second panel? And can it be fixed?

It is the same on every game. I use my 2nd monitor for either monitoring performance (If I am in a teccie mood) or emails / business.

All games do this?

The only reason for windowed while gaming personally is superior alt-tab speed. My games never lose mouse focus unless I tab out, and that's how it should be!

I'm quite surprised with SC2 being a pc exclusive game, yet it doesn't have a simple option to use dual monitors properly.

Not all games do it. L4D and just cause 2 let you use another monitor whilst still in game.

Yeah. Just noticed that in windowed (fullscreen) alt-tab is instant and gives you your cursor AND leaves SCII visible on the main monitor with the task bar at the bottom.

Perfect.
