Scooby wagon info needed

Afternoon all. Due to wanting some big dogs i've decided to sell the Pulsar and get something bigger. The trouble is I cant quite bring myself to get something boring like a normal estate car so i'm thinking of buying my friends Impreza sports wagon off him

The thing is I dont know a lot about it. It's a JDM import WRX on a P plate and he was told it's 280bhp. The log book says it was made in 1998.

I often see people refer to impreza as MYxx models, what is this so I can learn about the car

MY = Model Year.

A lot of people think its the year it was made, it isn't neccessarily. You can have an MY 98 made in 97 or 99.

A 98 should have the better interior with the pocket on the centre top of the dash, the later, more aggressive less rounded bonnet, grill and lights but the earlier bumper with the longer indicator and two small vents, rather than the later that has a stubbier indicator and a single vent.
