It's another exciting Lysander thread about food. Thrilling, I know.

I have a packet of Scotch eggs in the fridge. Use by date is 20th April.

Do I eat them, yes/no

The bigger issue is - does it count as a "substantial meal"? Remember during corona times you could only order alcohol with a substantial meal.

I'm voting no on this one. I will happily eat most foods past their use by date but eggs can be dodgy so rays once that I wouldn't.

They were refrigerated. Albeit it at the top of the fridge [don't know if that makes a difference].

2 Days and still in the fridge, no issues at all. The real question is should the food industry revise their Best Before dates to stop so much food waste.

I know M&S are pretty bad at this and have really short Best Before dates when there stuff are still fine several days after their date
