Scott Mountain Bikes

In the next couple of days I'm going to purchase a new bike with my insurance money from my old stolen bike. I'm just wondering what your opinions are on Scott bikes and this one in general?

I can get it for £256 with a lock, pump and lights! Seems like a good deal to me. My other option is i've find somewhere on the internet that has a brand new 2006 Specialized Hardrock for £250.

Help me decide!

The Specialized is probably the better bike but if it is just for a general bike to hack around on with occasional trails then it should be fine.

I'd say go to an LBS and try out the Spesh (if you haven't already)

Hardrocks are excellent dependable bikes when on a budget. They're pretty heavy though, but then again the Scott probably is too.
