Bit of a scrape and dent. Only had the car 7 months, on pcp. A fabia monte Carlo in Black magic.

Insurance excess is £250, I've been advised it's not worth using insurance.

Any idea on rough prices if I get it done at body shop? I'm not able to go out and get quotes for a few days and it's bothering me.

Is there any complications as it's on pcp? Should I go direct to skoda?

I did a scrape on my rear door a few months ago (here). I went through a local indy and it cost me about the same as my excess, plus no boost to claim for a few years. I ended £300 down, but a great job. As for telling skoda, I know what the rules are, but a, what chance is there you'd get caught and b, if they do spot it, claim it has nothing to do with you and it must have been done by a shady dealer pre delivery, and get them to prove otherwise (don't do that of course, I'm not being serious!!!)

I'm not entirely sure what the rules are haha, I should find the pcp papers. Guessing I'm supposed to let the dealer know and go through insurance?

Repair on that should cost in the region of £250-300(max) i would say, so definitely not worth going through insurance.

With it being so new any paintwork should match well and be fairly invisible, just find somewhere reputable and get it done

If it's on PCP it doesn't matter to Skoda at all.

Repair on that is as above, £250 - £300. Smart Repair scale job.

The way PCP works is, you pay the deposit for the vehicle and your payments pay for the depreciation. They give you a likely vehicle worth at the end of the period and that becomes your balloon payment, if the car sells for less due to the fact it has a scratch, that is your problem and you HAVE to cover whatever is less on the finance. A basic demonstration but yeah - You do not need to tell Skoda at all.

Get a proper painter with a painting room to do it though, not some driveway job. Those often end up bubbling up after a couple of years because of moisture under the paint :/

Well it does because the car belongs to them. The signed agreement will explain your obligations.

They won't care. I'd be very surprised if they did. Lets be honest, how many people with VWFG cars have a scrape? The admin involved would be astronomical, the car will be valued when/if it comes back.

They do care because they've written into the terms that it must be repaired by an authorised retailer!

I nearly bought a Civic from new, they were pretty much like "If you pay for it, we don't care, heck we'll even take it into the paint shop before delivery if you want and change bits up to make it exactly how you want" it's only if you hand it back/fail payments (repossession) and it impacts resale value that they care. Same as a lease car/van, our work vans get battered through general wear and tear, they simply don't care they mark it down and charge you over the odds for it when it goes back.

That's great but this is a Skoda and the VW financial services position is fairly clearly stated in their terms.

Might be cheaper to get the dent pulled by a PDR guy first. A bodyshop will charge a lot more to fix that, on top of the painting.
