Scrappage insanity

I friend of mine last week aquired a bonnet for his Triumph Spitfire. He got it from a specialist scrapyard, and the donor car had been traded in under the scrappage scheme. It was mint :(

What a waste.
 
That's gutting. Though we can take comfort in the fact that the manufacture of their new Prius produced far more CO2 than the Triumph ever could have by being run and half of Nevada was turned to desert through the mining of nickel for its batteries :(

Nickel mostly comes from Canada and Russia, as well as a few other different countries actually.
 
I thought all the scrappage cars were cubed? Nice to hear they are atleast generating secondhand parts.

1% of the Nickel mined at Sudbury mine in Canada goes to Toyota, most of that is used in high strength steels.

Most of the pictures used are from 1996 and that test site for moonbuggies comment goes back to the '70s.

So yeah - Top Gear was right, its all Prius fault.
