I have a very old 106 at home in my garage, and i want rid of it. But i want a lot of the things off it. I'm planning to take most of the panels off, doors, interior out boot and bonnet off etc, so basically afterwards it will just be a shell.

Do companies like this one below still take cars like that or do they only take a full and complete car?

Just want to know before i take too many bits off and can't get rid of it afterwards!

Thanks, tom.

Yeah, a scrappers will take it just for the scrap metal value.

A breakers yard on the other might not be interested though.

Got this taken away and got £20 for it :-)

If it's a scrap metal place (around here the process is referred to as "weighing it in" then they'll take it and just pay you based on the weight.

We have several boxes of 200SX parts laying around the house, and an engine in the shed as our local mechanic stripped off anything useful or saleable before weighing in the chassis.

If you want to push your luck, fill the car with junk before you weigh it in for some extra cash. At the very least chuck in the results of your last oil change, and maybe some old tyres.

Nice to see two scousers stand proud of their own handy work eh?

Too'em just 2 mins as well - I think they have a career in F1 on pit stop duty :-)

Will people still recover it if i sell the wheels do you think?

Last car I scrapped they came with a crane and lifted the thing out of my driveway and over the wall. I suspect in health and safety obsessed England they might not do this however.

If the person buying your alloys is replacing some crap steel wheels, offer him a tenner for them.

Did you even see my photo I posted? Christ, it didn't even have any hubs to bolt wheels to!

The guy turned up with a flatbed with a crane, sent is 9 year old through the car with a big chain and hoisted it up over the garden wall. Was quite cool to watch, if a little sad. Forgot to take photos of it going though!

I scrapped a car last year and they had no problem doing this.

A friend did the same and they did the same thing for his car (different yard).

Drive up, Hi-Ab, lift it on, drive off. :D
