Am scrapping a car during the week and have been told I have to leave at least one number plate on the car, which I thought was odd. I wanted to keep them as a memento, so they won't be used elsewhere and explained that to them. I see no valid reason to fork out £15 for a new plate to stick on only for it to be chucked at their yard if I want to keep both the originals. I can't find any rule or law that says a car being scrapped has to have them on. Got the V5 so the VIN will match, which is better identification than a bit of plastic on the front and back!
If it's their own rule then it's something I may just have to follow I suppose if I want them to collect it.
Can anyone advise in my first-world problem? :D

LOL, that is true. They don't have to be road legal any more!
As it turns out, I took the front off fine and the rear plate had its screw threaded and wouldn't come off and I ended up snapping the plate itself by accident.

So got the front plate now on display as my memento as well as the car badge I ripped off the grill! :)
