I am trying to work out if my images are showing up correctly on peoples monitors/LCD screens.

Can you let me know if this photo I took of Brad Pitt is showing his jacket as a grey colour, or is it very dark black on your monitor.

Please let me know if your monitor is CRT, LCD or a laptop LCD. Thanks!

On my Dell laptop the background is black but the suit, tie and shirt are all dark grey, charcoal greyish. Very easy to distinguish between the background and the clothes. On second looks the clothes all appear to be black but a lighter black than the background, a light black or a dark grey?

Is it supposed to be like that?

LCD and the suit is definitely black

but it's distinguishable in all areas, only the lower outside parts of his arms where the suit is folding does it blend in, infact scrap that, all of the outer edges of his arms are a bit 'is it background or is it suit?' his shoulder tops are ok

Same on my laptop lcd

Monitor 1: Sony 24" GDMW900 *which was calibrated many months ago...*

Can't see the suit, shirt is just visible.

Monitor 2: Sony 24" GDMW900 *which was never calibrated*
Almost black suit - can see it nicely though.

Monitor 3: IBM 21"
See monitor 2.

I think I need to recalibrate monitor1

Black on my Acer LCD. However some areas of the edges I.E shoulders are easy seen, but lower in the arms it is difficult to distinguish the edge.

Very dark grey here—that is, you can tell it's a black suit, but it's easily distinguishable from the background at every point.

17" SyncMaster TFT here.

Mitsubishi 930SB Pro CRT - Calibrated

Black suit, back shirt and tie
The background is a much darker black and the clothing is visible but it's still black.

Background is black & suit/tie/shirt are what I would call charcoal grey. I can see all of his lower arms .

Samsung 215TW TFT

NEC 1970GX LCD connected via DVI cable running in native mode

The suit looks charcoal to me, stands out fromt he black background.

On second look it could be black with a bit of a shine
