Screen broken?

I've got a friends laptop here, it's a Dell Inspiron 1545.

Here's what's happening with the screen:

I plugged it into a spare monitor and it works fine there, so that rules out a graphics fault I assume? I want to make sure that it is the screen and there's not something else that could cause this to happen.

Also I noticed this in the bios:

It says unknown device and native res isn't listed?

All working fine on external monitor:

Any ideas? I want to make sure it is the screen before saying it is and spending ~£60 on a new screen.

Cable/wires broken on the hinge?

Well, I stripped it all down today, nothing obvious. Plug the screen back in while still in bits so I could wiggle cables, booted up, works perfect.

Built it back up and been using it all afternoon without a problem. Must have been a dodgy connection I guess, I'll keep using it tomorrow and see how it goes.
