Hey guys,

Not very clued up on what is screen burn, or what it actually looks like, but I've had this little issue for a while now on my 2nd monitor, a Dell WA2209. It only shows up on when there is a black area behind it, shown just above the mouse pointer. It the size of a little finger fingerprint. Any ideas on what it is or how to get it fixed? Warranty with Dell ran out a few months ago, and trying to explain to them over the phone was proving quite impossible.

It's not screen burn.

Screen burn imprints a "ghost" of an image onto the monitor. We've got some at work which have a permanent ghost of the windows login screen burnt into them, from being left on overnight with no screen saver.

Personally it looks like physicaly damage to me. You can get that kind of smudge if you push a finger into the monitor really hard. Do you have children by any chance?

Is it visible when the screen is off?

I dont have children no, been well looked after, cleaned properly regularly. Its only there when the screen is on

And as I said, it only shows up on a black background. Using the online LCD Dead Pixel Test, the black shows it up, its not visible with the other green, red, white and blue colours.

Sounds like backlight bleed to me which will be at the edge of the screen.

EDIT: forget what i just posted, lol. I have not got a clue what that is. Never seen anything like that!
