Screen Capture Software

Can anyone recommend a free screen capture utility that will make an playable .avi or mpeg of screen activity? I'm on a client site, on a client's laptop, with no external net access from that machine. I'm trying to work through a support problem but back and forth emails is getting me nowhere. Sending them a small video of what I'm doing would save a boatload of time.

you can export as a flash video -it creates the html file too, or avi (with any codec)
