hi everyone

i bought some fellowes screen wipes the other day becuase my 2405 was covered in gunk and needed a clean

they come in 2 parts, a wet wipe thing and a dry wipe thing, wet first, dry after

ive done this but all that happens is the wet one just smears the whole screen and the dry one doesnt wipe anything away :(

is it worth buying some of the spray? cos these wipe things are awful:(

from the sticky ;)

Q. What's the best way to clean a TFT screen?

A. The simplest and cheapest way to clean a TFT screen is with a slightly damp cloth, wipe off the left behind water with a towel or similar then smooth/dry completely with a yellow polishing/dusting cloth. Be careful not to use products such as toilet paper and kitchen roll as they contain lint and can leave scratches on your beloved screen! Cleaning solution from opticians and lint free clothes for lens cleaning are also very good.
For the perfectionist, there is "Lindy" brand TFT cleaner. It costs about £4 for a pump-dispenser. You can pick it up at office supply stores and computer fairs.

Also XTREMEPENGUIN added this in one thread: "I bought some TFT cleaner from a well known internet store named after a rainforest. the stuff is called "Klear Screen 2oz LCD Screen Cleaner Starter Kit." You polish the screen with it and it comes out just like it was new. The finish feels really smooth like ice and it helps prevent dust settling on it again. You get about 3000 uses in the spray bottle and some good lint free cloths to use. I highly recommend it!"

I think those fellows screen wipes you use are for monitors with glass screens.
Like CRTs.

Like Baddass said,

A damp lint free cloth over the screen, then a dry one. And its looking good as new. :)

Not sure id of risked those crt screen wipes on my 2405 :)
in fact i didnt, lol. tested them on a work lcd monitor and found out they were poop. lol

I bought some really good stuff last week from our favourite German Supermarket.

I use it with Bounty glass and it is the best i have ever used.

the product is made by a company in Germany called Stanger and comes in a 250ml Bottle which should last ages.

Think it was about £1.29

There is no point in blowing money on all of these specialty cleaners. All they really have in them is isopropyl alcohol. So do yourself a favor and go to a drug store and buy a bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol and mix it 50/50 in a bowl, and then use a microfiber cloth to do the actual cleaning. Remeber not to pour the liquid directly onto the screen, but to dampen the cloth.

For me a capfull of the alcohol and then a capfull of water is usually way more than enough to do the whole screen.
