screen corruption

I am assuming this is graphic card related. The corruption only occurs when the screen has been left idle and the screen goes blank to enable the screen saver to kick in. The card is a His 4870. I am using a Samsung 37 inch screen as a monitor. I am not sure if this problem is only occurring because the monitor attempts to refind the connection as hdmi (such and such) at hdmi2. Anybody have any ideas about this? Thank you.

Edit: By screen corruption I mean lines of red fleck-like pixels. Everything is fine on a reboot.

Have you tried disabling the screen saver and leaving it for a while to see if it happens without that, could just be something to do with that kicking in.

Funny thing was the screen saver was set to the Microsoft Logo and for some strange reason, the screen would go blank prior to it kicking in-and then nothing- then the screen disruption/distortion. I have changed the screen saver to something else at the moment and set the time to initialize at 1 minute. It seems to be ok at the moment with this-so fingers crossed.
