Hi, i've never installed Linux before so i'm a bit lost on how to solve this problem.
I've tried installing Ubuntu 8.04, Kubuntu 8.04, Xubuntu 8.04 and Mint 4, they all install fine but feature screen defects, 3 vertical lines down the left and right hand sides of the screen.
I've done some research and i believe that the problem is the onboard graphics, i've got a ECS 761GX-M754 that uses the SiS chipset. I've done some research and someone mentioned that they've solved a similar problem by changing the linux display drivers to an older software product but didn't say how to do this.
I don't believe it's hardware failure because the LiveCD works perfectly. It's going to be used for a remote filestore so rubbish drivers don't matter, as long as i can see the screen properly then it's ok.
Thanks
