I just got a new 4850 card after my last x1900 died.

The problem is now that occasionally the screen flashes black for a second before coming back on. I am using dual monitors but it only happens on the main one.

Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Is it a sapphire card ? out of interest, I'd maybe disable vpu recover in the control panel and barring that check what your temperatures are like just prior to that happening.

No it's a HX520 PSU LOL

Had a similar problem with an old socket A rig and a 6600GT when i used a modded bios.
Turned out the bios had a problem with top end cards (which it was when the bios was written).
Symptom was the same as you with monitor going on and off randomly though i was only using a single monitor.

I used to get a similar problem with an old x1800 i used to have, it ws very random, sometimes it never done it for weeks, i just put it down to something to do with my monitor, as id not long got a new one as my old one had died, and that never did it with the x1800, was only after getting the new one, it didnt really bother me though as it was a split second flash, and wasn't like it was constantly doing it, may have only done it once a week or so.

*takes mac off

I sometimes get an error like this when playing raibow 6 vegas, the screen goes black for a second and then comes back on, I then minimised it to see what it was and got a message saying 'the graphics driveres stopped responding but have recovered', so it might be a driver issue or conflict?
