Screen flicker - ATI issue?

I have recently put together a new system and have an annoying flicker on my monitor. It happens mainly just before the desktop appears after booting up and also after I enter my password and unlock Windows 7. The flicker consists of a series of horizontal lines across the screen as it refreshes.

I have only briefly noticed it at other times, mainly during the loading screens of Metro 2033. I use 1920 x 1080 resolution.

My card: MSI Radeon HD6850. I am using the latest drivers.

My monitor: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-062-AC I am connected via DVI.

When I uninstalled the drivers, the flickering stopped (although I was unable to select full HD resolution). I also reinstalled my old HD5670 and the same thing happened when the drivers are installed. Fine without them.

I really hope somebody can help me as I am lost for ideas now. I am new to PC gaming having just made the move from consoles and am not enjoying my early problems. :(

EDIT: Removed link to competitor. Apologies.

are you using the drivers that came on the disk with the card or have you downloaded the new ones.

remove the link from above asap

flicker is normal if your using hdmi, esp when cold ect when screen goes to sleep/turn off and you wake it up it will flicker/flash and then go right

is that what its doing? from cold?

your using dvi idk if its the same for that but for me with hdmi i get the flicker from cold roughly 2 to 3 seconds then its fine

Try the 12.3 drivers, I find the 12.4 insanely buggy.

What's your full system specs?

Will try 12.3.. Specs are:

CPU: i5 2500k (not overclocked)
GFX: MSI Radeon HD6850 1GB
MOBO: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
RAM: 8GB Exceleram DDR3 1333mhz (2 x 4GB)
MONITOR: AOC E2250SWDA 22" LED Widescreen (as above)
PSU: Cooler Master Elite 460w

@wazza300 - I am DVI connection and it occurs every time I enter or exit Windows, hot or cold.

@cobbly123 - Will give the disk drivers a try.

I would skip the 12.4's for now and use 12.3's. You should be able to use the latest AMD catalyst profiles (12.4) installed over the top though.

Well, it's got me beat!

It's definitely not the monitor or cable as the same thing occurred when I just tried it on my TV via HDMI.

I uninstalled 12.4 drivers (using Driver Sweeper in safe mode) and installed the ones on the disc and the same thing happened. I tried 12.3 and the same again.

It doesn't happen when Windows is booted in safe mode (at a forced lower resolution). It happens at all resolutions when the Catalyst Control Centre is active.

I also tried disabling AMD overdrive, uninstalling MSI Afterburner but nothing seems to make a difference.

I don't think it's the card either as it happened when I tested my old HD5670 (as mentioned in first post).

I get this flicker but only when browsing Internet. It's something to do with her cards switching from 2d to 3d clocks. Am using the latest beta release 12.x July and it's don't happen as much.
