Screen flicker before video

I've got a slight problem, or annoyance. When I start to run a video my screen flicks to black and back, and I'm talking for a small fraction of a second, but it is still quite annoying after a while.

Is there an obvious reason for this?

Have you got a lot of codecs installaed? That can somtimes make video go a bit funny.

Does it do that with all media files or only some or a certain type?

I've hardly got any codecs installed.

I'm not sure exactly what media files, I think it's just video (mpeg and avi).

Does it happen with just one file a ie a specific movie or clip sor does it do it for all clips/movie files regardless?

All movies.

I'll test it more when at home.

hmm - it could be anything from incorrect codecs to data corruption. Have you tried playing it in another type of media player? ie winamp. divx etc?
