Hi guys. Would love it if someone can help me with this issue, it has been plaguing my PC since I bought it two months a go. As the title says, If I'm playing a game while chatting on Skype or any other chat program my screen will flicker everytime a person speaks. If I am not on chat the games work with no problems at all. The flicker is very noticeable when playing racing games like dirt rally. It doesn't seem to happen when playing games like battlefield 4 or PES.

I have tried reinstalling windows 10 changing graphics card and a long list of other things but nothing has fixed it. I'm totally baffled by this and need it fixed asap.

I have an msi gtx970 graphics card, i5 processor and 12gb of ram.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Would this have something to do with skype on Windows 10 using GPU acceleration? tbh if I was you I would ask your friends to move on from skype and jump onto something like TeamSpeak.

Never understood why so many people use skype instead of TS when gaming.

Have my own TS sever and my lad still uses skype over it as apparently his mates find TS confusing
Which is a little worrying if am honest

Yeah you not alone. They is guys I dont speak to very much anymore because they refuse to jump on TS. lol Skype is shockingly bad open mic etc its just not good.

Does TS not cost money to use?. To be honest I hate skype but all my friends use it. I'm not sure my problem is even Skype related as I tried chatting through steam chat and the screen still flickered...

I think you could be on to something with the hardware acceleration. I'll check that out later tonight and see if I can turn it off. Appreciate the suggestions, please keep them coming :)

Turns out this is a problem caused by me using a standard xbox 360 mic with the xbox controller. I have now got a mic that plugs directly into the pc and the problem has completely vanished. Must be something to do with Windows 10 because my mate uses the same xbox 360 headset with his controller and he doesn't have any problems, he is on Windows 7.

Your pc clearly doesn't like using too many console items :p

I am not surprised, the microphone capabilities of the 360 controller cause me nothing but grief when I used to have a USB headset.

There would be all sorts of conflicts where some programs would try and use the 360 USB audio and some would use the headset audio.

I never worked out what it was untill I ditched the USB headset and the conflicts vanished.
