I posted a while back explaining that for some reason my monitors were flickering ever so slightly when on the desktop but games ran fine, I’ve since discovered that if I unplug my second monitor my main one runs fine with no flickering , has anyone any idea what might be causing this? My main screen uses a display port cable and my second uses a hdmi lead

Id start with a new cable.

Yes both screens do, tried a new hdmi cable for my second monitor and it hasn’t solved the problem , if I unconnect one it doesn’t happen on the one that’s connected
So it’s not going to be a cable or a screen. What Monitors are you using, with what GPU?

My main screen is an ASUS TUF and the second one is just a cheap acer that I bought to use, my gpu is the 7900xtx, when I first built the pc and started it up it didn’t happen , it’s ever since i updated my gpu drivers for the first time

Did you try rolling back the drivers?

when I say it’s flickering it’s more like a small flashing , it doesn’t stop me doing anything and I use my pc for gaming and it hasn’t affected game performance, it’s just more of an annoyance when you pay so much for something you just want it to Be right

Ahh I was under the impression both monitors were the same, it could be a refresh problem that the new driver has brought with it, you could try setting things up manually in the driver like colour depth ect, you want all of your setting to lean towards the cheaper monitor as the cheaper probably wont be able to handle what the TUF one is capable of.

Can you list the specs of both ? or model numbers so we can look them up ourselves.

The product number for the ASUS is in Chinese but below it it says VG27W version no:VG72WQ and the acer is KG27

They are very different monitors, Acer is only 75hz where as the TUF is 165hz for starters, different resolutions too, it would be a waste of the TUF to dial down both monitors to 75Hz, but this alone could be causing flickering as your GPU is trying to decide which one to use, different refresh rates too, the Acer is 1ms, the TUF is only 1ms if you are using the MPRT setting.

Yeah I know but I figured as the second screen is only for web browsing etc whilst I’m gaming it wouldn’t matter what it was, I had a pc before that was just a prebuilt I bought but didn’t have this issue , that was Intel 12700f with a 3060ti, it’s just on this new system that I paid a substantial amount more that I’m having the problem
