Screen going blank since using a 5850?

I bought my XFX 5850 a couple of months ago, and on the whole I have been very happy with it - except for one issue....

While im using the PC, the screen would suddenly go blank! It always happens when Im browsing the net or doing some other non intensive task - absolutely fine when gaming - and I have to force the pc to switch off. Strangely, upon restart, sometimes the bios needs `resetting` by going into setup and saving the settings.

The platform is otherwise 100% stable - and I never had any problems with this setup on my previous graphics card - a 4890.

Any ideas?
 
have you tryed updating to the latest bios from asus , or checked if theres a newer bios for the ati card ?

maybe power to the pcie lane in the bios needs checked ?
