Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has problems with the 182.08 Nvdia drivers. I use Nvidia System performance tool instead of rivatuner. Never really had problems until i installed the latest drivers. Upon install it was fine and i was happily using it for hours without issues. As soon as i hard reboot (not restart) it would boot up as normal fine until it reached the desktop where upon startup the screen would go blank.

Definitely pin pointed the problems to be the Driver, as soon as i remove it and go back to a previous version it fine. Think it some sort of conflict with the nvidia control panel on startup.

Anyone else had similar problems.

Ive had nothign but prolems with theese drivers as well. However i also beleive my gpu is about to die considering i turned it on today to find coloured lines all across my screen. Reinstalled the drivers and it then totaly crashed on me, but after another reboot appears to be workign alright now :s

Right i have spent the last 3 hours trying to fix this and I finally got it to state were i find it acceptable.

Before i get into it, I just wanted to point out that the drivers themselves seem to be working ok. From what i can tell if your using it standalone without it working in conjunction with other tools/plugins it fine. I don't oc my gfx as i really use nvidia system tool just to regulate the temp better with customised fan speeds.

I was able to finally find out exactly what was causing the issue through a process of elimination.

Firstly removed Nvidia Driver and System Tool so I had a clean start.

1. Installed 182.08 successfully without issues. Shut Down -> Cold Boot - Passed no problem!

2. Installed Nvidia System Tool 6.3 successfully without issues. Shut Down -> Cold Boot - Passed no problem!

3. Setup Ntune Profile for GPU to customise fan speed to temp thresholds. Shut Down -> Cold Boot - Reached Desktop and loaded most system tray until the very last thing Ntune profile **crash** Blank Screen

So it would seem that the ntune profile has some sort of software glitch when it loads the profile from startup.

Work around i was finally forced to use was moving from Nvidia System Tool 6.3 or 6.2, to Rivatuner 2.24 instead.

Although i found the bug disappointing particularly when both driver and app came from nvidia, it not ideal but no exactly a major flaw, Just hope in future they fix this as i prefer System tool to Rivatuner :(

I have one final query for those that know rivatuner well. I have never used it before. I tried following a online guide for Rivatuner 2.0 but it wasn't exactly easy because 2.24 the menus were different. I did eventually figure out i had to use the scheduler instead of the launcher option to set the hardware temp thresholds.

One part I was completely clueless was the setting in the Schedular Tab for "hardware monitor threshold event"

data sampling period (milliseconds)
Task Freezing Period (milliseconds)

I had no clue really so i set them both to 10 for all 3 temp theshold triggers. Have i done this correct and if so what should the value for periods be?

Cheers

uninstall using either uruninstaller(retail program) or control panel, reboot,go into safe mode.run drivercleaner or drivesweeper, reboot, install new driver 182.08.reboot......if you are still getting problems after this then the driver is not for you drop back to the 181.22...they are pretty good:)
