Screen Jitter when using x1950 Crossfire

I recently purchased a HIS x1950XTX Master card from overclockers, to pair with an ASUS EAX1950xtx card on a P5W DH Deluxe mobo. When connected via the crossfire cable, I get a jitter, like the screen is shaking left and right every few frames, both in single card mode and when crossfire is enabled. This jitter does not exist in 2d mode, or when manually underclocking the cards to 2d speeds in 3d. Removing the crossfire cable, and directly plugging into the cards, (obviously without crossfire) removes the jitter. I've tried the stock HIS and ASUS drivers, as well as the catalyst 6.10 betas, and all have this same problem. Additionally, my power supply is fine (550 W sveasoft unit). Any other suggestions, as this amount of jitter is unusable...
 
6.9's don't work with the x1950 (only the vendor modified ones, or the 6.10 betas are an option). The 550 sveasoft PSU is on the certified list direct from ATI, and I popped up a voltage monitor to confirm the +12 v line wasn't fluctuating during periods when I encountered the jitter. Lastly, jitter is occurring even with a single card running, provided it is connected to the crossfire cable. There is no jitter if the monitor (DVI, 1680x1050 res) is connected directly to either card. Lastly, the master is properly installed closest to the CPU.
 
I wouldn't be either, but I'm working on using crossfire arrangements for scientific computing (similar to the folding at home stuff)... For pure gaming, frankly the single card is maxing out everything I throw at it... As a last piece of info, the 12 volt rails pull from a 40 AMP pool, with at least 18 amps a piece on the 4 12 v rails on that psu.
 
Yes, seperately both cards work, and with both installed, I can swap the monitor to the second DVI one at a time, and it works. Power is plentiful (dedicated 18 AMP 12 volt rails for each, out of a 40 amp 12 pool, on an ATI certified sveasoft PSU, and voltage monitoring shows no fluctuation on the 12 v rails even when jitter is experienced. The jitter is experienced only when plugged into the crossfire dongle, but is experienced both in single and crossfire mode when plugged into the dongle. Only thing I haven't tried is removing the second card and testing for jitter when connected to the crossfire dongle (obviously on the HSI master card only) =). Cables are brand new, and obviously work fine when connected to the second dvi ports, and all screws are fully tightened (no play exists at any cable connection). Tried with the HSI cd driver, the ASUS cd driver, and the beta 10 catalyst drivers (only available x1950xtx drivers I can find). My theory originally was that perhaps the two cards were generating signal out of sync, causing this jitter, but the fact that it occurs when using only one card as well throws that out...

Edit: The OPs problems could be caused by the differences in BIOS version on the two cards, if all else fails flash the Asus to a His XTX BIOS?

Any suggestions on how to track down this angle? I don't suppose the master card bios from the HIS will work on the asus slave (and I want to be careful of warranty issues if I need to RMA the cards...)
 
Just for the hell of it, I pulled out a vga cable and the dvi-vga adapter from my ASUS card. Low and behold, using the vga adapter, and the vga port on my monitor, the jitter is now gone. So, the problem I am experiencing only crops its head up when I use the dvi port on my tft, strait from the dvi on the crossfire dongle. I also tested the monitor on a radeon x750 dvi connector, where again no problems were experienced, so there is defintely something wrong with the DVI output on the crossfire dongle, but at least for now using the analog VGA adaptor gives me a temporary workaround that removes the jitter...
