Screen keeps going black

Hi,

I have a spare monitor, it's a Viewsonic something along the lines of a VA12 W need to check it.

but anyways, the monitor will work fine for about an hour, then just go black and loose the picture, the monitor light stays green and doesn't go into standby mode, don't think it's under warrenty anymore.

I've done a little bit of research and come to that it may a resistor and that they can be replaced, just how easy/safe is it for a DIY job?

I have also switched and tryed both types of input/output DVI & VGA.

have you tried it one another machine ? - are you sure it isnt the graphics card playing up

Hey mate,

i'm pretty certain that it's not the GFX piece itself as I currently have a 20" none widescreen connected to it at the moment using VGA through a DVI to VGA convertor, which works fine. The GFX Card is a X1950 XTX if that helps any .
Could this be a resolution/refresh rate issue? The current monitor is running at 1400x1050 @60 , the widescreen ran at 1680x1050 @60. I'm using the drivers that came with the CD.
