I've been given a generic android tablet to look at where a chap's 9 year old son has put a password in and he's forgotten it. There is no indication of make or any details whatsover on it on the case , inside or on lockscreen. All I could get was when I attached it to get a driver via Windows Update to link to my PC the driver was called Alcatel ADB Android.

I've tried resetting to factory by turning off then holding Up Volume then pressing Power which takes me to an android figure lying down with a red triangle and exclamation mark...it sticks here regardless of what key combinations I press.

In the absence of knowing what ROM it is, is it possible to load a generic Android ROM somehow? I'm aware this might brick it but I can't see any other alternative myself.

I've entered a wrong password over fifty times and I'm not given any opportunity to enter any Google account details...I don't know if there is one with it. I'm guessing not.
