Screen or Inverter Replacement?

Hello all,

My laptop is an ASUS Rog Strix G731GW.

In the last few months I am noticing a brightness flickering in the right side of the screen.
Previously it was barely noticeable, as it may flick 1-2 times a week, but now it is continuously flickering.

By flickering I mean the brightness going up and down very quickly, but in the far right side of the screen.

I have tried moving the screen to see if it becomes better/worse but nothing changes.

Also, it happens more frequently when the screen brightness is set to a middle level.

I am suspecting a backlight issue, since there are no other issues in the screen color and I have also connected an external screen to rule out GPU issues.

I have removed the front screen cover, however, except for the microphone PCB, I could not find the inverter.

Is the inverter integrated in the screen?
Should I check something else before ordering a new screen?

Thank you for your response.

Indeed, through further search I concluded that screen uses LED-backlighting.

So, the only solution is the replacement of the whole screen, right?

Hello again,

I have one more question regarding the adhesive used to hold the screen in the cover.

For sure it is a double-sided adhesive tape, however, there are many types of double-sided tape.
For example, acrylic and foam tapes seem to be thicker than the common double sided duct tape, so they may be more suitable for holding the screen.

Which of the two would you suggest?

I'm guessing that you haven't removed the screen yet. It's probably best to get a tape of the same thickness. A hairdryer can be a handy tool to assist in removing the old screen if the tape still has a really good grip.

You're right. Due to my job, I cannot afford a day without the laptop, so I am trying to gather everything that I might need beforehand.

Also, there is some adhesive tape at the bottom, holding the front cover. This is seems like a general thin double-sided tape. Should I pay any particular attention to what should I buy?
